THE Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita, has pledged to assist the nation’s electricity distribution companies in getting all ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government to promptly settle the electricity consumed by them.

The Guardian had recently reported that a choking debt of about N49,305,181,196.66 owed the 11 electricity distribution companies (Discos) in the country was impeding their efficient operations.

According to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), the debt was owed by federal and state governments’ departments and agencies, including the military and police.

Oyo-Ita made the pledge at the weekend when she received in her office the management team of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) led by the Managing Director/CEO, Neil Croucher, according to a release issued in Abuja yesterday.
