I am happy to leave Warri Wolves, says Egwuekwe
FORMER captain of Warri Wolves and a member of the Super Eagles to Brazil 2014 World Cup, Azubuike Egwuekwe, has said he will not miss the club he played for eight years. Egwuekwe is in Finland to start his professional football career.
Speaking with TheCable on phone, the big defender said that although he would continue to love the club ‘dearly’, but he was still hurt by the way he was treated.
“I was with Warri Wolves for more than eight years,” he said shortly on arrival in the northern European country. “It’s a club I love dearly – a club I worked for, served and I learnt a lot from them too, but they did not treat me well. I am not going to miss them at all especially for the way they treated me.
Speaking further, Egwuekwe said: “I am very happy to leave Warri Wolves because every football player will want to play his football abroad. So, it’s a good thing for me.”
He revealed that despite his omission from the Super Eagles team list in recent times, he would still love to return to the team.
“It’s painful to me because I still have enough to give to my country.
