A faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) have urged Nigerians to ignore the September 23 stay-at-home order issued by Biafra agitators calling for the release of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement by the coordinator and secretary of the coalition, Okanu Muoneme and Basil Okwuzi in Awka yesterday, the group maintained that it would no longer allow the death of its members for avoidable reasons.

The statement said: “We, IPOB and MASSOB (home) hereby dissociate ourselves from the directives of Radio Biafra broadcasting from overseas that people should stay indoors on September 23 in solidarity for the release of Nnamdi Kanu.

“We urge the people and every believer of the Biafran struggle to go about their normal businesses without molestation.”

The groups condemned the operators of Radio Biafra who they said were enjoying themselves outside the country while some of their members at home are either being killed or locked up in prisons.

The coalition, however, reiterated the call for immediate and unconditional release of Kanu in obedience to the various court judgments on the matter.

They also urged the Federal Government to address the infrastructural decay in the South East and South-South geo-political zones, which are in poor conditions.
