Lagos partners IDAN to host IFI Congress November 9
The Interior Designers Association of Nigeria (IDAN), the professional body for Interior Designers and the related industry support in Nigeria, have won the bid to host the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) World Design Congress and the 28th General Assembly (GA).
With the active support of Lagos State Government as the co-host of this prestigious event, Africa and the world will converge to celebrate and explore art and design from a local prospective.
The event is scheduled to hold at the Federal Palace hotel from November 9 to 12, 2017.
Established in 2007 to address the major problems that exist in the interior design industry in Nigeria, IDAN has grown to become the single largest association of industry stakeholders in West Africa with thousands of members across the region.
The body strives to advance the interior design profession and also demonstrate and celebrate the power of collaboration amongst artisans in related industries.
According to the association’s president, Titi Ogufere: “IDAN is proud to be hosting key personalities from the Design World here in Nigeria. We are passionate about building a viable identity that can promote the exportation of Nigerian Art, Culture and Design.
Founded in 1963, IFI is the global voice and authority for the professional Interior Architects /Design organisations.
This year’s IFI General Assembly and World Design Congress will open with The African Culture and Design Festival themed: THIS IS AFRICA. The festival will celebrate 100 years of African Arts and Design, focusing on traditional African Arts, modern and contemporary African Arts and Design.
Ogufere will be curating the design pavilion alongside other pavilions to be curated by renowned artists: Bisi Silvia, Azu Nwagbogu and Ronke Ashaye.
Expected at the Congress and Festival are distinguished, knowledgeable international and regional speakers such as Sir David Adjaye Obe, Kunle Adeyemi, Carol Becker , Lou Yongg and Alfred Brillembourg from four different regions who will share vital experiences on creative identity.
