Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has reiterated its commitment towards creating sustainable security architecture and systems in the state through timely investment in quality capacity building for various officers of statutory security and safety agencies.

Speaking on the successful completion of the training sessions on “Pre and Post election security in Lagos State”, Executive Secretary/CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Abdurrazaq Balogun, expressed happiness over the positive feedback received from the participants, adding that the value embedded in the training is beyond the coming election.

Balogun advised the officials to take advantage of the training in managing issues during the coming election. “Our officers must take advantage of this quality training by passing the acquired knowledge to other colleagues”,

According to the Chief Operating Officer of Academy Halogen, Dr. Wale Adeagbo, the election security training is a positive fallout of an expert session hosted by Academy Halogen last December where experts recommended that a multi-agency approach to safety and security will assist in mitigating and reducing the potential and real risks of the 2019 general elections.

Commenting on the importance and timeliness of the training, Director, Organization and Logistics, Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Mr. Gbade Ademola, described the training as timely and robust. Similarly, the Executive Secretary, Lagos Neighborhood Safety Agency (LNSA), Bajulaiye Adegboyega, commended LSSTF for the proactive initiative of organizing such training ahead of the election, noting that it will be a great impetus for many of the officers working in Lagos to perform optimally.

“This is a very good capacity development initiative; it is very appropriate and will go a long way to ensure our security before, during and after the general election. I challenge all the participants to take full advantage of the trainings”, he said.

Group Managing Director, Halogen Group, Mr. Wale Olaoye, commended the state government for its investment in security of lives and property. He also commended the LSSTF for being proactive in developing the capacity of Lagos security and safety officials in the area of intelligence gathering and surveillance.

Meanwhile, some clergymen have called on Nigerians to embark on fervent prayers for peace to reign during and after the elections. General Overseer (G.O.) of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry (C.M.D.M), Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin; G.O, Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, Dr. Chris Okafor; and Omega Fire Ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleiman, organised a session, where they prayed that there must not be bloodshed in Nigeria, before, during and after the election.

The trio made the call at an all night prayer session for the nation held yesterday in Ikeja, Lagos. They admonished Christians and other Nigerians to pray for peace to reign, adding that all the gladiators are brothers and Nigerians. “When we all live in peace, the country would be better for it. Nigeria is the only country we have, we should try at all time to pray for peace to reign in the land. ”

During the joint prayer session, they prayed against the plans of those who might be plotting to cause crisis and bloodshed in the country, asking God to expose them before their plots could come to reality.According to them, “There must be no bloodshed, no confusion or commotion in the land, Nigeria must be great during and after the election.”
