New members defect to APC
The All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded a boost in membership yesterday, as key members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defected in Oredo Local Council area.
The new members of APC from the PDP came from across the 12 wards that make up the council.
The National Chairman of the APC, John Odegie-Oyegun, the state governor, Adams Oshiomhole and the party’s candidate, Godwin Obaseki, received them. Oyegun told the defecting members that the party is always open to those who are for the development of the state.
He said: “Massive development has already started in the state and we welcome people who have the interest of the state at heart, to join hands to continue with the development.
“This is a period of answered prayers for our party. What makes it significant is that the people joining us at this time are not strangers. In one-way or another, I am particularly close to them and that makes my joy even more complete.”
The APC chairman continued: “If we believed in victory before now, this defection is an assurance that Edo State is safely in the hands of the APC. This is so because the only significant segment left of the PDP has now joined us.”
Among those who decamped converts were Dennis Evbuomwan, Tony Anileh, Madam Goldenpenny, Pius Izemwingie, Ikponmwonsa Usiobafoh, Mrs Vero Aguebor, Wilfred Enabulele, Secretary, Ward Five, Ebima Ogbeide and their numerous supporters. Oshiomhole said, with their defection, the PDP in Oredo was dead.
