Niger ALGON: We Are Yet To Get Allocation
The Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Niger State chapter has said that its members were yet to receive any allocation from the state joint account allocation committee.
Addressing newsmen in Minna, chairman of ALGON, Alhaji Tanko Garba Kagara, said members of the association had only met once with state governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello since their inauguration a month ago.
The state ALGON was constituted after the inauguration of local government council chairmen and councillors on February 11, this year.
Investigation had earlier shown that most of the 25 councils had not been able to meet their financial obligations because of the inability of the joint account allocation committee to meet for the disbursement of fund to the local administration.
It was further gathered that only N20 million each was disbursed to each of the councils from the JACC and this was a few weeks to the local government election.
But Kagara, flanked by John Taman, Secretary and Yahuza Mohmmed, the legal adviser respectively, told newsmen that their meeting with Bello was not on the issue of money, but on how to improve their internally generated revenue.
