Chime, Ekweremadu, Ugwuanyi campaign in Enugu West, as zone presents plan for development

THE Enugu State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has told its supporters that for it to keep its agreement to develop the state , the people must keep their part by voting for the party in February.

At its rally in Oji River in Enugu West senatorial zone yesterday, the governor  Sullivan Chime with other stalwarts of the PDP accepted the development blueprint from the area and  to renew the agreement the party entered into with the people in 1999.

The governor who came to Oji River Council  for the resumption of the party’s campaigns, urged the people to support the candidates of the party in order to realise their dream.

Earlier the Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu who is representing  the district said they would develop a blue-print showing areas of infrastructure lack in the zone to aid the next governor on the development of the area.

Ekweremadu  said that the representatives of the senatorial zone are desirous that the area gets all social amenities before 2019.

He assured the people that the agreement entered into by the PDP in 1999 to develop the state was still on course, saying that Chime has assured him that he would hand over the agreement to Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi when elected.

He also said that as Ugwuanyi is their friend it would not be difficult for them to push through the agreement, urging the people to vote for the PDP to realise this plan.

Ugwuanyi in his remarks agreed to abide by the agreement reached with the party. He admitted that he has the document showing the development plan of the state, and promised not to deviate from it.

At the flag-off of the campaigns last week, Chime had  appealed to the party members to ensure they have their permanent voters card (PVCs), without which they can’t translate the support into votes.

, “We should be grateful because the promise of God has been fulfilled in Enugu. In other states like Ebonyi, Imo, Abia, Akwa Ibom and even Niger, the choice of governorship candidates split the party. But in Enugu the choice of our candidate, galvanised the party.”

According to him, “it is God who has done it for us. For this election, we are not campaigning, we are celebrating and thanking God for His support. Our candidates in Enugu East senatorial zone, all our candidates are incumbents. We are therefore only presenting our governorship candidate, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

“It is the peace with which the PDP does its things in Enugu that other people are flocking to join us. It is only those who want to be governor in their dreams that join other parties.

The party’s candidate, Ugwuanyi, whose running mate and state lawmaker, Cecilia Ezelio led the women folk in a thanksgiving song, told the women that, “to whom much is given, much is expected.

Restating the theme of his campaign, he promised  that “all on-going projects will be continued” and cautioned the residents of Abakpa suburb, a densely populated area of the city, to expect better things in terms of development of infrastructure. He also promised “to create 10,000 jobs in the first six months of my administration.”

He assured residents in Enugu East Council that he would reconstruct major roads in and around Abakpa including the Nike road, which would be dualized, the Nike Lake road and Harmony Estate roads linking up to the Enugu International airport at Emene.

The PDP governorship candidate disclosed that, Chime took him along the roads and asked him to comply with the intended reconstruction as they are contained in the 2015 budget.
