Delta orders ex-political office holders to return vehicles

Okowa-3-17-1-15Delta State Commissioner for Transport, Vincent Uduaghan has vowed to recover all government-owned vehicles taken away by political office holders and others under the past administration.

The younger brother of the immediate past governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan who spoke in Asaba alleged that some of the vehicles’ numbers plate had been changed and their engine numbers tempered with.

He stressed his readiness to re-activate the Delta State Urban Mass Transit Scheme in line with the policy direction on transport of the state government.

The commissioner who inspected government buses and heavy-duty trucks and towing vans procured by the previous administration, said that it was sad to see the buses, trucks and towing vans not in operations.

He said that for the thinking of the present administration led by Senator Ifeanyi Okowa in the transport sector to come to fusion, certain steps must be taken to address all the setbacks observed in the system for the good of the scheme and benefit of Deltans.

He lamented that most of the operators of the scheme were not keeping to the contractual agreement entered into with the state government, maintaining that such act could not be allowed to continue for the sake of the scheme and the drive for enhanced Internally Generated Revenue of the state.
