NIM honours members, organisations at luncheon
MEMBERS of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) and companies that have excelled in their contribution to the nation’s economy were at the weekend honoured at the Awards, Fellows and Spouses Day Luncheon, which took place at Shell Hall, Muson Centre, Lagos.
Speaking at the occasion with the theme ‘The role of professional managers in driving real change in Nigeria,’ president and chairman of council, Dr. Nelson Uwaga, described the event as a milestone in NIM’s annual calendar.
Uwaga added that in addition to the over 200,000 members of NIM, the Institute has trained over 3.5 million youths through its National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
The Guest Speaker, Sir Remi Festus Omotosho, said many of the people running down the economy of the country are managers, though a large number of them are not professional managers, who have passed through the Institute. He lamented that the military made corruption a way of life, but it has become an epidemic that must now be fought to a standstill.
Uwaga gave the assurance that the Institute would continue to discipline erring members, irrespective of their status, who would want to run down the image and credibility of NIM.
