Okorocha, Bello canvass political peace
The duo of Imo and Niger state governors, Rochas Okorocha and Abubakar Sanni Bello, at the weekend, called for political peace in the country, with a view to creating an atmosphere of political co-existence, irrespective of political differences.
The duo made the call during the 7th convocation ceremony by the Imo State University, Owerri, in which Bello was conferred with Doctor of Business Administration (Honoris Causa), at the institution’s Convocation ground.
Okorocha, in his speech urged political leaders to do away with such ulterances that tend to divide the country or promote disunity among Nigerians.
He regretted that some comments voiced by some politicians pose serious threat to the nation’s unity.
The governor commended the choice of the Niger State governor by the authorities of the institution in going far away Niger and conferring Bello with the honourary doctorate degree
He said both the state government and Niger state had cordial relationship, hence the conferment.
‘The governor came all the way from Niger state to Imo state with all his entourage. This means that there is now good working relationship between his state, Niger and Imo State.
Bello said he was delighted that out of about 53,859 that received various degrees and higher degrees, he was chosen among the 357 in the Ph.D cadre.
The Niger number citizen expressed delight on the oneness of both states, urging Nigerians to be together irrespective of any leaning. He said it was because of his belief on the oneness of the nation that he accepted to be honoured by the university.
Both the governors commended the student in Optometry, Dr. Chigozie Ekenze for scoring best 4.78 CGPA and first class, despite his initial disillusionment when his father died, adding that he was assisted by the free education policy.
