Only responsible leadership can bring change, says cleric
The General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Nigeria, Rev. Paul Emeka said yesterday that only hard work and responsible leadership could bring development to the country.
He spoke in Enugu, shortly after being conferred with professorship in theology by the University of America, California.
According to the cleric, dedication and honest leadership are vital to the achievement of the dreams and aspirations of the nation’s founding fathers.
Stressing that “Nigeria will be great again,” he said the needed level of greatness would only come if those in authority embrace the rebuilding process by shunning corruption.
He said: “It is not a Nigeria where few individuals would sit to decide the fate of others or appropriate responsibilities unto themselves while leaving others behind.
“Nigeria is going to be good, but we must work hard. Every good thing has a responsibility backing it. We must struggle, love one another and stop crimes.”
The cleric urged the leaders to be aware that they are the examples and role models that the citizens follow. Their followers would copy whatever they do. The leaders should therefore make good use of the nation’s technocrats so that Nigeria would be better.
He said the award would motivate him to do more in the service of God and mankind, stressing that it was an indication that the world was monitoring his contributions.
