Targets N28b in 2016

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Oyo State yesterday disclosed that the command has generated over N4.6 billion in the first quarter of the year.

The Command, however, put its actual revenue target for the year at N28 billion with over N2 billion as its target per month.

Addressing reporters in Ibadan on its activities in the first quarter, the Area Controller, Temitope Ogunkua, also announced plans by the organisation to re-strategize and re-engineer its anti-smuggling operation modalities to match the ever-evolving challenges posed by smugglers.

While shedding more light on the sum generated, the customs chief said about 617 vehicles paid duty to the tune of N98.4 million.

He disclosed that the seizures made by the command include 226 packages of Cannabis Sativa, 3,103 50kg bags of rice with duty paid value of N24.7 million, a total of 43 fairly used assorted vehicles with a duty paid value of N52.9 million, 66 cartons of frozen imported poultry products with a duty paid value of N548,262.00.
