Parents protest against delay in release of exams results in Delta
Aggrieved parents and guardians in Delta State yesterday protested against the delay in the release of results of the last Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination (JSSCE) and the First School Leaving Certificate Examination (FSLCE).
The organisers of the peaceful rally in Asaba decried the non-release of the results of their children by the state Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
Speaking on behalf of the concerned parents, Celestine Onwuegbuzie said he was surprised that the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has not released the JSSCE/FSLCE results two months after the examinations were concluded.
The parents said they were more concerned that the ministry had not given any official explanation to the students and their parents why the results were being delayed.
According to them: “Up till now, we don’t know the fate of our children who wrote the exams because we do not know whether they passed or not to enable them to move to the next class.”
Responding, the state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Chiedu Ebie said efforts were ongoing to ensure the release of the results, adding that the delay was due to logistic problems.
