PDP’s guber candidate, Jegede raises hope on cocoa export
The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Ondo State, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), has promised comfort for farmers in the state if elected. He said his government would leverage on the state’s ability to produce cocoa.
Jegede, who stated this yesterday while speaking with newsmen in Akure pledged that his government would create enabling environment for industries to thrive in the state.
According to him: “We will give comfort to farmers, leverage on our ability to produce cocoa and train our farmers on how to produce premium cocoa that will add value to earning.
“We will make the state capital a true window of development, create business district as well as invest in education.”
He, however, admitted that the time is challenging and the task ahead of him is demanding, noting that his priority in government is to strengthen the economy of the state.
“Our objective is to deal with the economy. It is going to be more on governance. We would give access to every businessman that is ready to invest in the economy. We want to build capacity for our people. We will create the Ondo State that our people will be proud of.”
The PDP candidate also reiterated his priority on the Southern District of the state to boost its economy and turn it to an enviable economic hub of the zone and nation at large.
He hinged his plans on the recently licensed Ilaje industrial zone, which he said, would ensure concentration on the district to maximise its massive industrial and economic potentials.
Jegede, who harped the realisation of the plans on more concerted efforts and support from the people of the state, said there was no limit to what could be achieved through unity and a common focus.
“We collectively will build a state of our dreams that will be the envy of all as we will ensure necessary steps are taken to ensure sense of belonging and government, built on law and order,” he stressed.
