Police warn miscreants against attacks during Sallah
• Rescue two kidnapped Chinese in Ogun.
The Nigeria Police Force, Kwara State command has read the riot acts to all would be law breakers, miscreants and the likes to shun unruly acts during eid-el Kabir celebration in the state or face severe penalty.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ajayi Okasanmi, and made available to journalists in the state yesterday, the command said that eid el Kabir celebration is not an avenue to ventilate displeasure over any government policy.
Some miscreants, said to have come from outside the state, hauled sachets of water including stones at Senate President, Bukola Saraki at Ilorin eid praying ground during last year celebration.
The command, which said that the eid praying ground was not a campaign ground and as such praise singing of political gladiators would not be tolerated, affirmed that Emir of Ilorin is the symbol of Salah celebration.
Besides, it advised youth in their own interest to shun any act inimical to peaceful celebration, saying that respect must be accorded to “our fathers as symbolised by our royal father, the Emir of Ilorin.”
The statement also said that police and other security agencies were prepared to ensure safety of lives and property of law-abiding citizens before, during and after the celebration.
The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State, Olusola Amore, on behalf of men and officers of the state command, wished Muslim faithful happy eid el Kabir celebration.
In another development, the Ogun State Police Command has rescued two Chinese nationals: Shen Ximing and Wei Futang, who were kidnapped last Thursday by armed men in Odeda local government area of the state while working at a quarry.
The Command’s Acting Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi told journalists at the Command’s headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, that the expatriates were rescued on Wednesday.
Oyeyemi, an ASP said immediately the news got to them, a police team comprising men of the Anti-Kidnapping unit and Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad were deployed to fish out the abductors and rescue the victims.
