Two injured as fire guts Niger Biscuit
No fewer than two persons were seriously injured yesterday when an afternoon inferno gutted Niger Biscuit, makers of Oxford biscuits and other confectionery in Apapa area of Lagos.
Although, the cause of the incident was still unclear at the time of going to the press, an eyewitness said the inferno, which started at about 2:35p.m., was caused by a gas explosion.
The Public Relations Officer of Lagos State Emergency Management (LASEMA), Mr. Adebayo Kehinde, who confirmed the incident, said two staff members, who were seriously burnt, have been rushed to the hospital.
He also confirmed that men of the Lagos State fire service and the Nigerian Ports Authority battled to put out the fire.
