Nigerian students have been charged to engage the ruling class to give account of their stewardship to the people they are representing at different levels of governance.

The charge was made by Reverend David Ugolor, Executive Director, Africa Network for Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ) at a programme organised by the Student Union Government (SUG) of the University of Benin.

Tagged, ‘FEDx UNIBEN’ the programme had Breaking From The Norm, as theme.

Rev Ugolor noted that everywhere in the world, the onus is now on students to engage politicians to ensure the proper implementation of the budget and advocate for their rights. He said students have the potential to cause positive changes in the polity, adding that the pivotal role of the students and youth in making positive change possible is the reason his NGO has decided to align with the students to tackle corruption in the country.
