UNIJOS denies lawmaker’s diploma certificate
The University of Jos has denied ever issuing a Diploma Certificate in Business Administration to a member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Baba Hassan (Jos North).
In February 2015, Abdul Saleh, who contested the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries for the same constituency with Hassan and on the same political platform, had filed a case of certificate forgery against Hassan, seeking an order of the court to disqualify him on the ground that he violated the Electoral Act of 2010, as amended, and swear him (Saleh) in as the elected member.
Continuing his evidence yesterday, the Registrar of the university, Monday M. Danjem, told the court: “By the University of Jos letter dated the May 20, 2015 in reply to A.S Garba & Co. (Legal Practitioners and Researchers), signed by the Deputy Registrar of the University of Jos, Samuel C. Mwansat, it was stated that the 1st Defendant (Hassan) did not graduate from the University of Jos from our records, owing to some failed courses and that the Diploma Certificate in Business Administration (Lower Credit) of the University of Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, dated November 25, 1996 did not emanate from the University of Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria.”
