VC canvasses TETFUND support for private schools

The Vice Chancellor, Bells University of Technology, Ogun State, Prof Jeremiah Ojediran has stressed the need for Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) to be provided for private institutions of higher learning.

Speaking at a press conference in preparation for the eighth convocation of Bells University, he stated that government should appreciate private institutions assisting to uplift the educational sector. According to him, the misconception is that private universities are for profit making, which is wrong.

He added that a total of 57 Postgraduate and 384 undergraduate students would be graduating across four colleges. He said 37 of the undergraduate students are graduating with first Class, 128 with Second Class Upper; 152 with Second Class Lower and 67 with Third Class.

He said the Honourary awardee for the 9th Convocation is Chief Innocent Chuckwuma (Innoson Motors), who will conferred the D. Tech of the University, in recognition of his immense contribution to the development of automobile industry in Nigeria, while the guest speaker, Mr Tony Elumelu, CEO Heirs Holdings Nigeria Limited, would speak on ‘New Generation of African SMEs: the diverse-and inspiring-experience of 3000+ Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurs’.
