Vigilante association seeks government’s assistance for effective operation
To make their operations m more effective, the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) has stressed the need for government at all levels to adequately equip them.
Briefing journalists yesterday in Jalingo, the Taraba State commandant of the VGN, Bappa Jarumi, also tasked the public on the need to support and provide necessary information that would lead to the arrest and subsequent prosecution of suspects to the organisation.
Concerned about the infiltration of unregistered groups, which he said, were tarnishing the image of the VGN, Jarumi called on the Police, ward heads, village heads, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), civil defence or any security agencies to conduct screening for members of the group to flush out the bad eggs.
He charged government to clamp down on persons parading as members of the group, but who are not registered with it.
