With unity, Nigeria will overcome challenges, says Lagos monarch
Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has said that no challenge is insurmountable for Nigerians if they unite and work in harmony. He assured that the country would overcome the current economic situation.
Oba Akiolu spoke yesterday when members of the Osisioma Foundation, Anambra State led by Dr. Chike Obidigbo paid him Sallah homage at his palace in Isale-Eko, Lagos. He noted that despite occasional misunderstanding, Nigerians have worked hard to achieve a prosperous and united nation.
While thanking Obidigbo and his delegation, the monarch recalled his historic relationship with the Igbo even as he declared jocularly that the sea has dried and enjoined the people to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) to change Nigeria for better.
Earlier in his remarks, the founder of the foundation, Obidigbo, informed the monarch that the group decided to felicitate with him during the Sallah festivities in recognition of the crucial role his palace plays in national development.
“We recognise your role in promoting peace and harmonious relations; Nigeria needs peace because without this there can be no progress. We have come to rejoice with you on this occasion of Sallah to show our love and friendship,” Obidigbo remarked.
He explained that Anambra indigenes are always at the forefront of efforts aimed at economic and social development of the country. He stressed that Osisioma Foundation plans to widen economic opportunities and provide employment for women and youths to enable them to contribute their quota to national development.
