Contestant urges cancellation of primaries in Ondo State
The Borno State governorship aspirant of All Progressives Congress (APC), Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, has petitioned the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) over alleged irregularities during the gubernatorial primary election.

Ibrahim-Imam, who spoke at a press conference in Maiduguri, said the primary election was fraught with several irregularities from its preparation to implementation.

According to him, the primaries did not meet the barest minimum requirement for a free, fair and credible election.“It is indeed a travesty of justice,” he lamented. He alleged that the irregularities include unlawful use of state resources to induce delegates, purchase of nomination forms by the governor, anointing a preferred candidate, take-over of electoral panel by the governor, withholding of delegates’ list , among others.

Meanwhile, a House of Representatives aspirant in Ondo State, Laf Mayokun-Alade, has urged the national leadership of the APC to give members a clear direction on the crisis rocking the party, demanding cancellation of the primary election in the state.

Mayokun-Alade, who spoke yesterday while addressing journalists in Akure, said there was no election in the constituency. According to him: “I am going to stand with APC to fight a common cause and that common cause is for all stakeholders to come together on how to move forward.”

“I am not going to opt out of APC and am not going to work for anybody. I and my people are going to stay to watch what’s going to happen. All what we are asking for is free and fair election, we don’t want any imposition, you can’t give what you cannot take.”
