Foursquare holds lecture on politics
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Rev. Father Matthew Kukah will address the political and economic state of Nigeria at the fifth public lecture of Foursquare Gospel Church on Tuesday, October 9, at the church’s national headquarters, Alagomeji, Yaba, Lagos by 10am.
Addressing reporters yesterday, the general overseer, Rev. Felix Meduoye, noted that the theme of the lecture was informed by the fact that “economy, faith and politics are an interesting mix,” especially in Africa where the issue of faith has strong impact on economic and political decisions.
Obasanjo, a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Christian Theology, and Kukah will also suggest how the country can attain political and economic growth at the lecture themed ‘The Trying Triangle of Economy, Faith and Politics: Looking Through the Eye of the Needle’.
The lecture is also part of activities preceding the 63rd Annual Convention of the church scheduled for November 12 to 18 at Foursquare Camp, Ajebo, Ogun State. While noting the strategic importance of this year’s lecture, Meduoye said “we are of the opinion that at the end of this programme, we would have succeeded in contributing valuable ideas and opinions to the ongoing national discourse, as well as encourage and motivate Nigerians to show greater interest in the affairs of the nation”.
