Why cattle colony is not welcome in Igbo land – MASSOB

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra
(MASSOB), yesterday, accused the Federal Government of insincerity on the proposed cattle colony policy and called for its rejection by Igbo people.

An Australia-based official of MASSOB, Frank Kalu, decried the inability of the Federal Government to stop the massacre of innocent citizens in Benue State. He said the killings by herdsmen should serve as warning to other states.

Wondering why the Federal Government has “special interest in the protection of cows and cow business than in human lives,” Kalu regretted that nothing had been done to compensate victims of the herdsmen attacks.

He said: “We were here when Nimbo in Enugu State was attacked, followed by another community in the state where a catholic seminarian was butchered, as he slept. Since these incidents, many more have taken place in the southeast. Farms are attacked and natives chased out of their homes. In all these, the Federal Government kept quite.

“Currently, they swooped on Benue State and are killing innocent people on daily basis. Instead of attacking the issue and bringing to book those involved in the ugly incident, the government is busy calling for cattle colonies.”

He said: “We are living in a country where only one segment enjoys protection. All others are treated like slaves. Is the Federal Government saying that the ongoing genocide in Benue is not planned to humiliate the people?”

He urged the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to take responsibility for the killings in the country, especially those committed by herdsmen.
