‘Kada River’ the new movie by Toka Mcbaror which was executive produced by Olakunle Churchill has had its world premiere at the ongoing Nollywood Travel Film Festival in Toronto, Canada. The premiere held at the University of Toronto auditorium and it attracted a quality audience who applauded the decision of the executive producer to fund the production of a film on a subject such as the crisis in Kaduna state that reportedly claimed many lives.

Starring some of Nollywood’s notable actors including Joke Silva, Keppy Ekpeyong, Rachel Oniga, Bayray Mcnwizu and new entrants like TBoss, Chris Okagbue and James Blessing, the narrative beams the follow spot on an age long rivalry between the Boduas and the Shawlains, which erupts into a tensed and bloody crisis.

In the midst of the crisis Jerome and Nadia hold on to their young love in the bid to restore peace and save their tribes from this unfounded hate that they nurture for each other. Screen played by Tunre Femi, Smart Conrade, and Robert Ruben and produced by Forinclay Ejeh and Toka McBaror, the film is one of the 10 films on the Nollywood Travel Film Festival slate.

The others include Ayo Makun’s ’10 Days in Sun City’, ‘Oloibiri’, ‘Slow Country’, ‘Alter Ego’, ‘Esohe’, ‘Lost in London’ and ‘Lotanna’. Founder of Nollywood Travel Film Festival and President of the African Film Consortium (AFC) Mykel Parish stated at the start of the festival on September 12 that the Nollywood Travel Film Festival which is a suitable alternative to the Toronto International Film Festival’s city-to-city programme that was rested after Nollywood’s outing in Toronto in 2016, celebrates the best of Nigerian cinema and will be hosted in major cities around the world.

The Nollywood travel festival ends on September 16 while the annual Toronto International Film Festival holding in Canada, which opened on September 7 ends on September 17, 2017
