In appreciation of its listeners and in the spirit of the yuletide, the Beat 99.9 FM recently organised an Xmas concert at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event, which started at about 8pm, was graced by guests from different walks of life, who had good vibes at the fun filled concert and were super excited with first hand live performances from A-list artistes such as Mr. Easy, Kizz Daniel, Teni The Entertainer, DRB, SDC, Ajebutter and others.

Aside home based artistes, the evening witness performances by foreign artistes such as Kojo Funds, who is one of the biggest Afrobeat artistes in the UK at the moment. There was also the Lotto Boyz, who are equally trending in the UK chart.

Speaking at the event, Deji Awokoya, General Manager Beat 99.9 FM, said the idea behind the concert is to crate an atmosphere for the celebration of all the wonderful experiences of the radio station in the year, adding that is was a way of appreciating their fans and audience as well as give the audience an offline experience outside the radio.

“What they hear, see and feel is as good as the radio experience. We started Beat FM 10years ago and the station has been aligned to the UK sound, so a lot of things we do kind of have the UK slant to it. So the whole idea of bringing in foreign artists is to do something different and unique that not only portray the best of our home base Nigerian talents but the UK and US talents as well which stands out from the regular Xmas events experiences people are accustomed with,” he said.

The evening, which was a multi power concert with a whole lot of people in attendant especially young Nigerians and visitors from the diaspora, turned out to be a gathering of young people, both male and female, who experienced the big and grounded generation of new artistes, who came through in the past months with large followers.

Olisa Adibua, Programmes Director, Beat 99.9 FM said, the event was orchestrated to fuse together young Nigerian youths coming through as well as connect with the station’s audience.

“The concert is a celebration and gathering of young people from all over the world. There is the urban UK sound as we infuse the urban Nigeria sound alongside the urban American sound. The whole idea of the concert is to give people a view of what we do on the air, the kind of flavor people enjoy day-in-day-out on Beat FM.” he said.
