Mo Abudu, CEO of EbonyLife TV

The Chief Executive of EbonyLife Media, Mo Abudu, has been unveiled as Chair for the 47th edition of the International Emmy Awards Gala scheduled to take place in November. The announcement was made via the International Emmy Instagram page.

Speaking on the unveiling, the Nigerian media amazon said: “As producers, we are in a unique position to share fresh, authentic and original stories with a global audience. Our content is not limited by language or culture; viewers want to see stories that reflect their everyday lives, which can be found everywhere.

“At EbonyLife, we believe in changing the global African narrative, and like many, we connect the world with our stories.

“As a Nigerian television producer, I am honoured to chair the gala event and be part of an organization that celebrates extraordinary television producers from all over the globe.”

The prestigious Awards recognise and celebrate excellence in television production all over the world.

Meanwhile, positive reviews have trailed the private screening of Oloture, the new movie by EbonyLife Films. The private screening was hosted in partnership with the British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ms. Laure Beaufils, at the IMAX in Lekki, Lagos.

Described as a bold step in a new direction for Nollywood, Oloture tackles serious issues through a distinctive ‘art nouveau’ lens.

Directed by Kenneth Gyang and starring Sharon Ooja, Omoni Oboli, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Omowunmi Dada and Sambassa Nzeribe, Oloture explores a world very few people know anything about and had to be dealt with in a particular way.

Mo clarified that the movie is not a documentary, saying it addresses real issues most of our society don’t see, harnessing the talents of some of the country’s top actors and filmmakers to produce a film that is both intelligent and profound, and breaks bold new genre and stylistic ground for Nollywood.

Oloture would commence its festival run this summer, after which it would be released across cinemas in Nigeria and then to streaming platforms.
