‘Why we screened 93 Days’
Though the idea to shoot a movie on Ebola was initially greeted with controversies, that decision seems to have paid off, as 93 Days, a movie on how Nigeria, through strong collaborations, defeated the dreaded virus, has continued to generate positive reactions from not just film lovers, but also the general public. For once, there’s something positive to celebrate about the country.
In a bid to celebrate brand Nigeria, as well as show support for the movie, which was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada, Wapic Insurance recently staged a private screening of the movie at the Genesis Deluxe Cinema, The Palms Shopping Mall, Lekki, Lagos. Attended by top management of the insurance company and staff, the screening also hosted the company’s customers, guests, as well as some cast members of the movie, including Francis Onwochei, who played the role of Doctor Ananiwo in the movie.
Addressing the gathering, Managing Director of WAPIC Insurance, Mrs. Yinka Adekoya said that, by associating with the movie production and screening, Wapic Insurance is making a bold statement about its values and virtues, as well as its commitment to partnerships that promote social wellbeing and sustainability in healthcare.
While commending the producers for positively putting Nigeria on the international platform through the film, she added, “the event also gives us an opportunity to appreciate our customers for their support towards the growth of the Company.”
In a chat with a cast member Francis Onwochei, the Nollywood expressed his happiness about the movie and thanked the company for coming onboard.
“The production of 93 Days was very important to us as actors. Ebola, at that time, had the capacity to decimate the entire citizenry, but the events that followed established a time that Nigerians came together to fight one major course on all fronts, which is inspiring to us all,” he said.
