Lead City Varsity wins football, basketball, as NPUGA ends
LEAD City University, Ibadan, has emerged champion of the football and basketball events of the Sixth Nigerian Private University Games Association (NPUGA), which ended at the weekend at the Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti, (ABUAD).
Lead City defeated the football team of Al-Hikmah University in the final game by 4-2, and the host university, ABUAD, in the basketball final by 61 points to 36.
Meanwhile, Alikmah University has been handed a two-year ban by the main organizing committee of NPUGA after the Ilorin-based institution walked out of the pitch in protest to a fourth goal scored against them by Lead City University in the final match, which was part of the competition’s closing ceremony.
The director of Sport of the Lead City University, Lade Aloba, said her contingents faced lots of hard times from the NPUGA officials, which grossly affected their moral but still thanked God for picking the vital gold medals.
