New Arsenal Ladies star, Oshoala, gets bellerin’s jersey
Arsenal Ladies have completed the signing of Nigeria striker, Asisat Oshoala, from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee.
Oshoala joined the Reds from Nigerian side Rivers Angels last January and scored three goals in 12 WSL appearances.
The 21-year-old has appeared on the international stage at youth and senior level and was named the player of the tournament at the U20 World Cup in 2014 after finishing top scorer with seven goals.
Oshoala has been issued the jersey number 24 same as that worn by Héctor Bellerín for Arsenal’s first team.
The long waited unveiling of the 21-year-old forward was announced by the club’s website yesterday after what seemed an eternity.
Oshoala had spent the 2015 season with Liverpool, where she became the first player from Africa to feature in the Women’s Super League.
Arsenal Ladies’ Manager, Pedro Losa, said: “Asisat is a fantastic talent and will be a great addition to our squad. She is quick, with excellent feet and has proven she can score goals so it’s very positive she has decided to join us.”
