As parts of preparation for this weekend’s World Cup qualifier against the Chipolopolo of Zambia, the Super Eagles yesterday battled Nigeria league side, Plateau United in a warm up tie.

The game according to the team media officer, Toyin Ibitoye, was to give the Eagles manager Gernot Rohr opportunity to assess the level of fitness and efficiency of the invited players.

He stated that there was no form of injury worries in the team’s camp, adding that all the players were fighting hard to earn a place in the team.

Ibitoye stated that the Eagles are well motivated ahead of the qualifier, saying that the tune up match against Plateau United would go a long way in blending the team properly.

“Rohr has declared that all the players will fight to earn a place in the team. At this moment, there is no injury problem in camp,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, Zambia coach, Wedson Nyirenda has named Rainford Kalaba to captain the Chipolopolo against the Super Eagles on Sunday.

The new Zambia coach said the midfielder from DR Congo club TP Mazembe would continue in the role that he has kept for the last 22 months.

Kalaba has been captain since January 2015, when he took over from defender Stopilla Sunzu who briefly held the position after Christopher Katongo was dropped from the team.
