Rugby Federation shifts Super Cup to next year
The one-day game, which is organised to decide the ultimate champions of the 2014/2015 National Rugby League, according to the federation, was put in place to ensure the league meets international standard.
The NRRF also declared that the venue of the game has not yet been decided.
Speaking to The Guardian on Tuesday, NRFF’s Vice President, Olatunji Fasimoye, said the postponement was to enable the federation prepare well for the championship and also make concrete arrangements to have more sponsors for the game.
Apart from the CMB Building Maintenance and Investment Company, who have been sponsoring the national rugby league since its inception, no other organization has identified with the sport.
“Rugby Federation has shifted the Super Cup between Cowrie RFC of Lagos and Barewa RFC of Kano to next year. We decided to postpone the event to next year to enable the body get enough funds to organise the event and the national league.”
