Zaha will be a star in Gabon, Gervinho insists
Injured Cote d’Ivoire player Gervinho has tipped Crystal Palace star player, Wilfried Zaha, to shine at the ongoing 2017 Africa Cup of nations in Gabon.
Gervinho will be watching from the stands, something he admits he will find difficult. But he insists he is getting back to fitness.
Speaking to supersport.com at the Leon Mba airport in Libreville as he headed to Oryem to give support to his countrymen Gervinho was full of praise for Zaha whom he described as a fantastic player.
“Zaha has no problems adapting to the game in the national team colours and its evident from the short time he has been in the team that he will bring a lot of impact. Zaha has been exceptional in the Premier League and his anger for success has been very clear.
“Zaha is part of the new crop of player that are capable of taking the team to greater heights together with young Bailly and Franck Kessie and I see he will play a very big role in the Afcon tournament since he has the drive and is passionate about the team fully,” Gervinho said.
Gervinho, who was part of the team that won the competition two years ago added that Cote d’Ivoire had the pedigree to retain the title as long as they played as a unit.
Zaha, a recent call-up having played previously for England underage teams, is expected to be Gervinho’s replacement in the striking department.
