Abia State University Uturu (ABSU’s), Professor of Public Administration, Dr. Gregory Nwizu, has posited that for any organised society to function efficiently, there must be clearly defined rules and regulations to regulate the conduct and behavior of its members.

Prof. Nwizu said this, while delivering the 25th Inaugural Lecture of ABSU with the topic, ‘What Is Good Administration? – Lessons For Nigeria.’ He noted that apart from having rules and regulations, government must as well put in place bodies or group of persons to enforce the said rules and regulations.

Nwizu disclosed that good administration must be responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people. According to Nwizu, factors including corruption, generalists versus specialists crisis in public service, generated  politics and policy crisis, defective appointment into public offices, paucity of welfare services, strained relationship between the citizen and administration, undue privatisation of essential services, religious, ethnic and political conflicts , militate against good administration in Nigeria.

He stated that the call for good and responsive administration in Nigeria will remain a far cry if corruption is not grappled with firm hands.
