A season of remembrance

As we are about to enter into the New Year, it is very important that we take inventory of how we have lived our lives this year. We need to reflect on our walk with God. It is a season of reflection.

Every act under the sun is performed under the watchful eyes of the All Knowing God and so; you cannot hide anything from Him. For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth (2 Chronicles 16:9). The eyes of the Lord are too pure to behold evil (Habakuk 1:13).It is not in God’s nature to forget. God remembers people, both for good and evil. In Genesis 8:1, the Bible says, “And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged.”In 1 Samuel 1:19, God remembered Hannah and gave her a son called Samuel.

In 1 Samuel 15:2, God remembered the people of Amalekities for judgement because of the evil they did against Israel, when they were coming out of Egypt and as a consequence, they were utterly destroyed. God will not forget the atrocities you have committed, except you repent and turn away from your wickedness.

God remembers all your wicked deeds and you cannot outsmart Him. God also remembers all your faithfulness and obedience to Him. Genesis 8:1 contains the first mention of the beautiful word “remember” in the Bible, and it tells us that God remembers! During the awful cataclysm of the Flood, the most devastating event thus far in world history, God still remembered the faithful obedience of Noah, and He even remembered every living thing!

We may forget many things, but God remembers: “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have showed toward His name” (Hebrews 6:10). Nor does He ever forget a promise. The first mention of “remember” in the New Testament is the Spirit-inspired testimony of Zacharias: ‘Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for He hath visited and redeemed His people . . . to remember His holy covenant; The oath which He sware to our father Abraham” (Luke 1:68,72-73). That promise had been made 2000 years before, but God remembered.

Prosperity and blessings that you desire are in a season. You must wait for Mango on the tree to ripen before you pluck it and eat. Don’t pour carbide on the mango to hasten the ripening. Wait for your season to mature. When your season comes, no big boss sitting on your promotion can stop you.The heart of the King is in the Hands of God. He knows how to turn the heart of your boss to remember you. Don’t run ahead of God and don’t introduce yourself before your mature period.

God is aware of all you have denied yourself for justice to prevail and He will remember you for good. God will remember the cheated and those denied justice. God remembered Rachael’s plight and answered her prayers by enabling her to have children. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son. God has removed my disgrace, she said.

Your faithfulness in the Year 2017 shall not be in vain. Your faithfulness towards God’s work, sacrificial giving and tithing shall not go unrewarded. God will remember your faithfulness to your spouse, even if your spouse does not recognise it.

The book of Esther recorded that one night, King Ahasuerus could not sleep. He commanded that the book of record of the chronicles be brought to him and when he went through, he found the good deed of Mordecai that was yet to be rewarded. The very next day, Mordecai’s good deed to the king was rewarded in a very remarkable way, because the king remembered him (Esther 6).

Don’t move into the New Year with the atrocities of 2017. Don’t be smart with God because you are digging your grave. God’s Mercy is available to reach you today. You have not sinned beyond the reach of the Blood of Jesus. Make peace with God today and He shall remember you for good.
Today’s Nugget: God Shall Remember You.
