At Christmas, be part of God’s kingdom, Archbishop reminds worshippers
The Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha, His Grace, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, has called on Nigerians to embrace peace and shun all kinds of hatred and violence.
This was contained in the Christmas message he preached at the Basilica of the Holy Trinity, Onitsha.
He said Christmas is a celebration of peace and love, symbolised by Jesus Christ, Who is being celebrated all over the world.
His message, titled: “Rejoice in the Lord,” the Archbishop said the birth of Jesus Christ came with abundance of blessings and calls for spiritual joy.
He said: “As you celebrate, be part of the kingdom. When you do the word of God, you enjoy unlimited blessing. Make sure there is peace everywhere you are. In Anambra, in the church and everywhere, we need peace.”
According to him, people cannot be celebrating the King of Peace and at the same time hate one another or promote violence.
While urging Christians to pray for those in authority, the cleric, however, called on them to always place priority on the people’s welfare.
He advised Christians to be missionaries, as well as promote peace and love for one another.
