How one man emerged as ultimate leader
Welcome to a new week and the beginning of a new series. The secrets of men are in their stories in this series we would deliver the secrets that worked for Joseph right into your home. This series offers lessons from the exemplary life of Joseph, which I believe is most relevant to our generation in these trying times when we seem to face a similar myriad of challenges.
Joseph was a complete success – although he had a rocky start, he surmounted all obstacles (in-spite of disappointments and set-backs) and rose to the pinnacle of his career, emerging as the Prime Minister of Egypt (which was the centre of civilisation at the time).
Take these lessons and deal a decisive blow on failure. You will succeed.
Part 1: Joseph Had A Dream – Dare To Dream
“If you’re not sure of where you are going, you’ll probably end up someplace else”- ROBERT F. MAGER
Joseph had a dream;
“He had another dream and told this one also to his brothers:” I dreamed another dream – the sun and moon and eleven stars bowed down to me!” Genesis 37:9 MSG.
Joseph’s dream was a revelation of his purpose for living – they were dreams of success, impact and relevance. His dream was the proof that he was destined to be great.
What do you see?
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” 2 Corinthians 5:17.In Agriculture, when a particular species of plant is not productive, the farmer plucks a stem from the non-productive species and by way of grafting, connects the stem to another productive species. The transferred stem would begin to receive nourishment from the new productive species and manifest like the productive plant – suddenly it becomes vibrant, buoyant and fruitful.
In the same way, once you are saved, you become new with an excellent purpose through Jesus Christ. In Him (Christ) you have been uprooted from wherever you were initially planted and are now getting nourishment from a new tree, a new covenant. In spite of your past mistakes, family background, academic qualifications or even the economic situation you now have a hope and a future. Let your heart see the picture of success – change your thinking.
Like Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, you are a child of promise, grafted for a particular purpose, which must be realised for the glory of God. God declared in Jeremiah 29:11 (AMP), “For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord. Thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome”.
‘Thoughts of good’ include welfare, wealth, peace and the likes. Everyone who followed God’s plan had their lives transformed for good. Joseph was not an exception. Don’t run away from God’s plans for you, they are good and perfect for you. You are free to dream; start dreaming.
Lord, I thank you for your great plans for me. I receive your plans for me and I choose to walk in them. I set aside selfish ambitions even as I pick your dreams of me being a blessing. I thank You for helping me maximize my destiny in Jesus’ precious name.
See you next week!
