Passion for quality service

Pastor David Adeoye

“You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? Even so every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit nor can a bad tree good fruit.” (Matt 7:16-18)

This generation is passionate about quality service. Everybody is looking for the best barber, the best restaurant and the best of the best of everything in town. This is as old as the Bible. When King Saul needed someone to play him some music to relieve him from a kind of demonic attack, he placed an advert looking for someone that can play well and skilfully (1Sam 16:16). In the corporate world, QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE is one of the major determinants of success. If you want to be successful in the business world, you must be known with quality products and services. It is the quality of your “fruit” (products and services) that determines the quality of patronage you will enjoy. When King Solomon was about to build a House for God, he looked for the best hands in building construction, art and designs. If your products and services are of high standard, you’ll never lack continuous patronage. It is the quality of the fruits on a tree that attracts potential beneficiary. You have to deliberately develop a strong passion for excellence, so that you can excel in your vocation. You have to consciously lift up your standard beyond what is expected by your clients.

Six Steps to Quality Service
Define who your Clients are.
This is one of the fundamental things to do in business and career. When you clearly define who your clients are, they will be easier to find. A wise man said, “You can’t find, until you define.”

“These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. “BUT GO RATHER TO THE LOST SHEEP OF THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL.” (Matt 10: 6)

Jesus specified the kind of people He was sending His disciples to. This was to make it easier for them to find their target audience. Every successful company designs their products and services to suit a specific kind of people, and this is why their products easily catch the attention of their targeted clients or customers.

View Your Business From Your Clients’ Position
Sometimes you need to get out of the office, to see through the eyes of your clients. Ask yourself questions that put you in the positions of your clients, and give yourself sincere answers. One day Jesus asked His disciples “who do men say I am?” You need such feedbacks to serve your clients better. This will help you to keep improving and remain relevant in the market place. Many people are using 16th century weapons to fight 21st century war, so they stop being relevant in today’s world.

Stop Over-promising And Under-delivering
If you over-promise your clients and under-deliver to them, they will end up being disappointed. Be careful you don’t build your clients’ expectation too high, lest it becomes too hard to meet or exceed. Don’t promise what you can’t deliver, so that you don’t mar your reputation in the market place.

Go the Extra Mile for your Clients
“And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.” (Matt 5: 41)
A wise man said, “Nothing succeeds like excess.” You have to learn to go beyond your clients’ expectations, if you want to be a front-liner in the market place. There is an old saying that says, “Nothing sells better than a satisfied customer.” No matter how greedy your customers are, when you go beyond their expectations, they are satisfied; hence they tell others about you.
Treat your Clients like Kings and Queens People are naturally attracted to where they are appreciated. John Maxwell said, ‘there are two kinds of people in any gathering — those who arrive with an attitude of “here I am” and those who possess an attitude of “there you are.” The “there you are” people easily get attention, because they acknowledge others more than themselves. People are attracted to where they are treated as kings and queens. They feel at home where they are celebrated.

Spread the Good News of your business
Tell as many people as you can about your area of excellence. What you talk about frequently, will multiply. Whatever good things people know about your products and services ensure that you always work hard to protect and to improve them. The turtle lays thousands of eggs without anyone knowing, but when the hen lays an egg, the whole compound knows about it. Announce yourself.
