Oba of Benin reiterates desire to bring sanity to Kingdom
The Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, has said the Palace will continue to do its best to bring peace and sanity to the Kingdom.
Oba Ewuare II stated this, when he received members of Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, who paid him a courtesy visit.
His Royal Majesty noted that where there is no peace, there could be no progress, as people would find it difficult to carry out their professional duties.
The monarch acknowledged the important role of surveyors in society, especially in the delineation of boundaries between communities.
The Oba said no amount of ethnic issues would prevent the Palace from achieving its vision and mission for Gelegele.
The Chairman of Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Edo State Chapter, Surv. Anthony Ekhator informed the Oba that they were worried about attitude of people in neighbouring communities, who disturbed them whenever they are performing their duties at boundary areas.
Receiving the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (ALFAN), led by their President, Emmanuel Ighodefeyi Odigie, Oba of Benin said there is enough land in the Kingdom for farming purposes.
His Royal Majesty informed the farmers that the Palace has made plans to establish a Sunday Market, where various food items would be sold to less privileged persons at highly subsidised rates, and requested ALFAN members to support the initiative.
Oba Ewuare II appreciated them for making him their Grand Patron, and assured them of Palace support at all times.
